For Lumiar, educating is an ongoing process of human development, which takes place through learning – and learning means building and expanding skills (to be able to do what was previously impossible).
The focus, therefore, is in building and expanding competencies and skills by active, engaged and self-motivated students. The curriculum is competency matrix which encompasses learning expectations that the school has of the students.
Learning takes place actively, through problem solving activities which are part of projects developed based on students’ interests.
The assessment is not conducted through tests or examinations, but rather from observations, interactions and dialogs among several agents involved in the process – including the learners themselves.
